Student Training
Solidworks
Solidworks is a computer-aided design (CAD) software package that is the program of choice for jobs submitted to the shop.
UCR has a Solidworks Site License, which allows UCR students to download and use the program for free. You can access Solidworks here: Solidworks @ UCR
The program allows you to create a design that provides a detailed description of the dimensions of your piece. And it's fun to use.
Tutorials
Whether you're a beginner to Solidworks or just need a refresher, we suggest both of these tutorial options:
1. Online:
Solidworks has an extensive catalog of support content available online. Their website hosts videos, tutorials and community engagement:
2. In the Shop:
We can offer help on Solidworks and on designing your project or piece. Just let us know how we can be of help.
In Person Training
We offer in-person training for UCR students and post-docs on all of the Shop's equipment.
Currently, because of COVID-19 restrictions, in-person training is suspended at this time.
Keep an eye out on this page for when we can resume student and post-doc training sessions.
